My Story
I’m Cory Wicker, Ph.D., a servant leader, storyteller, and advocate for purpose-driven living. At the core of my work is a belief that transformation must be lived out both spiritually and practically. My writing reflects that conviction and lives at the intersection of faith, leadership, purpose, and personal growth.
As a first-generation college graduate and a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, I write from a place of personal loss, transformation, and spiritual hope. My life has been shaped by experiences that include surviving a natural disaster, enduring tragic loss, and navigating seasons of divine redirection. Through each storm, detour, and breakthrough, I have seen God’s grace at work in ways I could not always understand in the moment. That perspective continues to shape both my message and my mission.
My writing is grounded in the belief that even when life feels uncertain, purpose can still emerge, growth can still take place, and hope can still rise. I want to encourage others to trust God’s plan, remain open to His direction, and move forward through life’s unexpected turns with faith, courage, and resilience.
Professionally, I have published academic work in peer-reviewed journals, including Advances in Developing Human Resources, New Horizons in Adult Education and Human Resource Development, and the Handbook of Human Resource Development. But beyond any title or accolade, what matters most to me is my faith and the opportunity to help others discover meaning, purpose, and hope through their own story. Whether I am mentoring, writing, or leading, I am committed to building meaningful relationships, sharing Scripture, and reminding people that their story is not over. I believe there is purpose in every story, strength in every season of growth, and hope in every chapter surrendered to God.

AVENUE OF HOPE
When faith is tested, hope becomes the avenue forward.
Avenue of Hope: A Devotional Journey Through Life’s Unexpected Turns is a deeply personal and spiritually grounded invitation to trust God in life’s most difficult seasons. Through stories of surviving a natural disaster, enduring devastating loss, navigating unexpected transitions, and wrestling with God’s will, Cory J. Wicker, Ph.D. shares how God works through obedience, surrender, community, and perseverance—even when His plans do not make earthly sense.
Structured around five transformative seasons, this devotional is both testimony and invitation. Each chapter includes Scripture, personal testimony, guided questions, key takeaways, and a closing prayer prompt to help readers reflect on their own journey with clarity, courage, and hope.
Whether you are rebuilding after loss, facing uncertainty, or searching for reassurance that God is still at work, Avenue of Hope offers encouragement for the road ahead.

Why I Wrote this Book
Simply put, I wrote Avenue of Hope in response to God’s call to testify.
He called me because I know what it feels like to walk through seasons that do not make sense: to face grief, loss, disruption, unanswered prayers, and unexpected redirection. In those moments, faith can feel tested in ways we never imagined. Yet I have also experienced the faithfulness of God in the middle of those very seasons.
This book was born out of personal testimony and a desire to be honest about the journey. I wanted to share not only the pain of difficult seasons, but also the hope, growth, and spiritual clarity that can emerge when we continue to trust God. My prayer is that readers will see that they are not alone, that their story still holds purpose, and that God is present even in the twists and turns they did not choose.
I wrote this book to encourage others to keep walking, keep trusting, and keep believing that hope is still possible.
